Manila Ocean Park : Ocean’s Ultimate Adventure!

I haven’t been this close to thousands of live marine creatures and being with them is just totally amazing!

It’s SUMMER! Finally! I am sure you guys are up for a summer activity and some of you might still be looking for the best place to go. Right? So, let me take you to an ultimate ocean adventure with my family. And guess what? This is just located in Metro Manila and it’s good for couples, families and groups.

Below are the options in going to Manila Ocean Park:

For private vehicles, Manila Ocean Park is accessible via Roxas Boulevard. If you are coming from the south, then turn left at T.M. Kalaw (you can see the US Embassy and Museong Pambata by your left side before you turn). If you are coming from the north, turn right before or after Luneta (this is Katigbak Drive or T.M. Kalaw, respectively). You will be guided by the signs leading to Manila Ocean Park.

Of course, you can ride a taxicab from any parts of Metro Manila and just mention to the driver to bring you to “Manila Ocean Park”, “Quirino Grandstand“, “Manila Ocean Park near Luneta“, or”Manila Ocean Park near Rizal Park“.

For commute from around Manila: 

Option 1. Ride a jeepney along Rizal Avenue bound for Taft Avenue and asked to be dropped at T.M. Kalaw. Walk towards Manila Bay until you reach Roxas Boulevard (you will walk past Orosa Street and National Library). Cross Roxas Blvd, and walk through South Drive and behind the Rizal Park stretch will be the visible Quirino Grandstand. It might happen that jeepneys bound for Taft are scarce so ride a jeepney first to Divisoria or Lawton and ask where you can transfer for those bound to Taft or Rizal Park (Luneta).

Option 2. Take an LRT 1 Yellow Line going to Taft and get down at United Nations station, walk towards T.M. Kalaw. Walk towards Manila Bay through Rizal Park until you reach Roxas Boulevard (you will walk past Orosa Street and National Library). Cross Roxas Blvd, and walk until you reach Quirino Grandstand; behind it will be Manila Ocean Park.

Option 3. From Lawton/City Hall area, ride a jeepney going to Baclaran and get down at the Shell Station at the corner of M.H.Del Pilar and T.M.Kalaw. Walk towards Manila Bay through Rizal Park until you reach Roxas Boulevard (you will walk past Orosa Street and National Library). Cross Roxas Blvd, and walk until you reach Quirino Grandstand; behind it will be Manila Ocean Park.

Option 4. Along Roxas Boulevard, there are FX that are Sucat-Lawton. You can ride this and asked to be dropped at Luneta. Walk towards Manila Bay through Rizal Park until you reach Roxas Boulevard (you will walk past Orosa Street and National Library). Cross Roxas Blvd, and walk until you reach Quirino Grandstand; behind it will be Manila Ocean Park.

The Manila Ocean Park offers a variety of activities which caters not only to kids but also to kids at heart. I swear everyone will surely enjoy as I could still remember how me and my parents reacted to every activities and we were just so happy and excited. They offer day and night activities and it comes with two options: (A) Attraction and (B) Encounters.

A. ATTRACTIONS

1. Sharks and Rays Encounter is an exciting attraction for a fun urban adventure. Located at the Acquatica area, its crystal clear outdoor pool is divided into three zones filled with various species of friendly sharks, stingrays and starfishes. Go beyond aquarium walls and have an extreme and intimate engagement with them. Dry Encounters Daily: 10:00AM – 5:00PM Last Entry: 4:30PM

2. The Oceanarium is home to 14,000 marine creatures from around 277 species, all indigenous to the Philippines and Southeast Asia. Its sheer size and diversity makes it one of the world’s best public aquariums. The Oceanarium is a stunning walkthrough of the watery depths featuring seven sections and containing 3,000 cubic meters of seawater. At the heart of a 55-meter journey inside the Oceanarium is the main attraction – a 220° curved walkway tunnel with a spectacular underwater view of amazing sea creatures swimming overhead. 3. Trails to Antarctica: It features a walk through exhibit where you can learn more about the frozen continent, live Humboldt penguins in the Penguin Exhibit and a freezing Christmas Village. Monday to Friday – 10:00AM to 8:00PM, Weekends & Holidays – 9:00AM to 8:00PM, Last Entry – 7:15PM

4. The Barnyard, a place that can give joy and relaxation because of the undeniable cuteness and sweetness of the pets that are sheltered in it. Watch the bunnies, hamsters, guinea pigs, rats and chickens eat, hop, run and play. Daily – 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Last Entry – 5:30 PM

5. The Jellies Exhibit has various species with a fascinating display of multi-media effects and breathtaking music. Monday to Friday – 10:00AM to 7:00PM, Weekends & Holidays – 9:00AM to 7:00PM, Last Entry – 6:30PM

6. Aquanaut Voyage is an ultimate underwater adventure using a special diving helmet that lets you breathe inside, as air is pumped from above the water level. It is safe and ideal even for non-swimmers. Designed to introduce you to the fascinating marine life, this amazing underwater walking experience allows you to interact with sea creatures under the guidance of a qualified diving instructor. Inclusions: use of dive helmet, wet suit, aqua shoes, shower facility, toiletries and orientation. Daily – 10:00 AM/ 12:00 NN/ 1:00 PM/ 2:00 PM/ 3:00 PM/ 5:00 PM/ 6:00 PM

7. Mermaid Swim Experience for those who want to fulfill their dream to become mermaids. It is a 45 minute program featuring basic swimming, how to glide with a fish tail underwater and proper breathing techniques. Daily: 10:00 AM/ 11:00 AM/ 2:00 PM/ 3:00 PM/ 4:00 PM

8. Fish Spa. Sit back and have fun with the doctor fishes as they nibble dead skin cells from your tired feet, leaving you with rejuvenated skin and a refreshing feeling the natural way. Monday to Friday – 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Weekends & Holidays – 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Last Entry – 6:30 PM

9. Symphony is a majestic display of huge water fountains, the tallest in the Philippines reaching 40 meters or 120 feet. Daily 6:30PM to 7:00PM

10. Sea Lion Show where you can meet the adorable sea lions of South America as they bring you valuable information on environmental conservation. Show runs 4 to 6 times a day and seats up to 1,900 pax per show. Daily 11:00AM to 11:30AM / 3:00PM to 3:30PM / 5:00PM to 5:30PM

11. All Star Bird Show These intelligent birds consist of macaws, cockatoos and eagles and provide remarkable showmanship and high-flying thrills. Daily – 1:15PM to 1:45PM / 4:15PM to 4:45PM

12. Back of the House This is a fun and educational tour for students and those who want to pursue higher learning in marine science.Weekdays – 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Weekends – 10:00 AM to 7:00PM, Last Entry – 5:30 PM (Weekdays); 6:30 PM (Weekends)

13. Penguin Talk Show The country’s first animated talking penguin is finally here! (show runs every 30 mins) Monday to Friday – 10:00AM to 7:00PM, Weekends & Holidays – 9:00AM to 7:00PM

14. Birds of Prey Kingdom features one of the most stunning coastal raptors in the country, the Brahminy Kites (Haliastur indus) locally known as Lawin in Tagalog and Banog in the Visayas region. Have a close encounter with these winged wonders within a unique bird sanctuary as they perched in a hanging bridge along the coast of Manila Bay. Daily:10:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Last Entry: 5:30 PM

15. World of Creepy Crawlies Learn more on the importance of often ignored creatures and be enlightened on the magnitude of insects, worms, spiders, bugs, frogs – collectively known as the Creepy Crawlies! Monday to Friday: 10:00 AM TO 7:00 PM, Weekends & Holidays: 9:00 AM TO 7:00 PM, Last Entry: 6:30 PM

16. The Birdhouse. Relax and listen to these small and long-tailed Budgies chirp. Watch them play and fly around you, and have the chance to feed them on your hands. Daily – 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Last Entry – 5:30 PM

17. Augmented Reality. Get the chance to interact with their very own signature animated whale shark, dolphin, Philippine Eagle and Manila Ocean Park Mermaid. Monday to Friday – 10:00AM to 8:00PM, Weekends & Holidays – 9:00AM to 8:00PM, Last Entry – 7:15 PM

18. Neon Rides features Instagram-worthy pedal cars which are lit up at night with neon-colored LED lights. These Volkswagen-inspired cars will make you take as much pictures as you want, sing along to your favorite songs and get fit as you pedal your way around our area. Daily – 5:00PM to 9:00PM

For a full packed day, you have to avail a package which offers set of activities. You can avail directly thru their website or thru metrodeal . I suggest that you read in advance and know the best activities to avail to fully enjoy.
